Building browsers and products that put people in better control of their online lives
I help users make the most of Firefox. As a staff content designer, I work alongside UX designers and user researchers to shape products that help Firefox users accomplish their task at hand. On any given day, I might collaborate with engineering to understand the technical implementation of a complex privacy feature, plan a strategy workshop to help two product teams align, or develop a framework to aid in content governance.
I embedded with the teams designing and building the Firefox mobile browsers. I worked cross-functionally to build the mobile design system and to strengthen our mobile product discovery practice.
Firefox Monitor is a data breach notification service. I was part of the cross-functional team that redesigned the experience to make it more user-friendly and scalable. Close-knit collaboration between product, engineering, research, and design helped us move quickly. We were able launch a complete overhaul — complete with flexible templates that considered many content types, a personalized breach dashboard for users, and automated emails — in just five months. The service is localized in 30+ languages.
Firefox Private Network is a browser extension that gives you an extra layer of privacy on public WiFi. I worked with design and research to understand users’ mental models around privacy threats and VPNs. We developed several iterations of the product while operating under tight business and technical constraints. I also led the launch of the website that brought the VPN and the browser extension together.
• Remote UX Collaboration Across Different Time Zones (Yes, It Can Be Done!)
Firefox offers several privacy features that protect users from data collection and tracking. Because privacy is unseen, helping users understand these features without disrupting their browsing experience can be a challenge. I helped to simplify these complex technical features with a user-focused approach. This work involved working with designers to redesign our front-end implementation of Enhanced Tracking Protection, which automatically blocks invisible trackers. We also designed a Protections Report in the browser to help educate users about how Firefox protects them.
